You and your loved one have decided to take the big step and get married. You’re very excited for your future as well as the big day. Don’t let the stress of paying for the wedding get in the way of your happiness.

In the past, traditionally, it was the bride’s parents who paid for the wedding; however, in these more modern times, many couples choose to pay for their own nuptials. This allows them to plan and enjoy the wedding of their dreams.

Image from Flickr

Planning a wedding together and working side by side may actually be good for your marriage, as you will both need to understand each other’s spending philosophies, as well as learn to compromise with each other.

Determine the Cost

Weddings can range from approximately $10,000 to the more extravagant ones reaching six figures or more. So, make a list of what you would like to see at your wedding, along with the cost figures for each item. If the final tally is too high, work together to pare down the cost.

List those things that you feel are absolutely necessary; those that may be desired but unnecessary and finally those that are just extras. For instance, the venue is an absolute requirement, but do you truly need the flying doves?

Creating a Plan

Wedding financing doesn’t have to be stressful when you come into it as a prepared team. Take a look at both the bride and groom’s savings accounts and decide how much can be used for the wedding.

Next, take time to analyze each other’s spending and where you can trim expenses and move funds toward wedding expenses instead. There isn’t anything wrong with asking for parental assistance in funding nuptials; most parents expect to foot at least part of the bill for their child’s wedding. In today’s world, both families are more than likely to help with the cost.

Save Where You Can

There are many ways to save on weddings. Instead of using the most popular bakery in town for your cake, choose a home-based baker instead. Your price won’t include any extras to cover labor and building expenses. Silk flowers can save a bundle when used instead of fresh flowers. If you know someone in your family who is crafty and creative, ask if they could help with your decorations to save even more.

Newlywed’s Financial Blues

A newlywed couple needs to handle big adjustments such as day-to-day routine, family affairs, household responsibilities, and most especially, spending habits. Managing personal finances was a little easier before commitment; but now that two people are sharing the same financial goal, both of them had to map-out a budget plan according to their financial state.

When both of you are in the midst of planning your budget and managing your financial life together, you will more than likely face financial setbacks like unexpected bills and/or medical emergencies.

As a young couple, you may still not be financially prepared to cover such calamities. If financial emergencies strike in the future, most financial experts say that online personal loans like that from www.greatplainslending.com will be a great option for short-term relief solution. These emergency loans are intended for those unexpected financial crunches.

Fabulous weddings don’t have to be stressful; just take one step at a time towards your future.

With so many changes in the economy in recent years, everyone has to evaluate how and where they spend their money, as well as finding more creative ways to make more money, or at least keeping as much of their hard-earned money as possible. Lines of credit stretched to the limit, along with stricter guidelines for establishing credit, credit card companies are no longer willing to take the risk on a person with some blemishes on their credit history. Gone are the days, the years of “buy now, pay later.” Wallets full of credit cards are giving way to controlled spending; the cash should be available before the purchase takes place.

Image from Flickr

Being Aware of Your Financial Situation

Keeping a closer eye on the purse strings requires some discipline. Prices of many things continue to rise, while bonuses and pay raises are not quite keeping up. The time has come to change the spending habits. When the cash is flowing, it is easy to keep up with the payment books. When the job slows down, the layoffs start and the available cash diminishes rather quickly. It is very easy to get caught up in letting a bill go another month, or paying less than the minimum to try to stay above-board. For a while it works, however before too long the late charges are adding up almost as much as the premium, insuring that the bill will not be paid off for a very long time.

Planning Your Financial Moves

It is time for a plan. It is necessary to cut the spending to the barest of minimums. Once the food and shelter are taken care of, it is time to start a budget to pay down the bills and get back on track. Buy necessities as needed, but clip the coupons, buy the store brands, take another look at how a corner or two can be cut. Maybe a large purchase is not a good idea at this time, and can be held off until things are more stable.

In Case of Financial Emergencies…

But even with a working budget, you can still encounter unexpected expenses that may arise from your daily activities. These financial emergencies could easily eat up the rest of your budget if you don’t know how address these problems. Fortunately, PayDay One Loans offer a short-term solution to answer your immediate financial needs. This loan can be paid off with the next paycheck or two, and can be a good solution in case of emergencies.

Finding sensible solutions to keeping finances on track is the best way to getting back to keeping some of the hard-earned money we all work so hard for.

Nothing beats hands-on experience when it comes to gaining your stripes in life. In many cases, like those of specific pieces of machinery, or types of culinary artistry, going to the source is the only chance you may have of hands on training. Work experience abroad can mean unforgettable experience and training that can make you a vital part of a company’s team.

With the price of college, expenses, and other economic issues, having cheap tickets for your flights abroad for job training is a must. To find the cheapest alternatives, make sure to check the websites of all airlines that travel your needed path.

Common Job Training Abroad Opportunities

There are a few common educational opportunities that require people to travel abroad for training.

Teaching

Teachers are one vital need for our entire planet. They can come from anywhere to train folks that live anywhere in vital tasks, responsibilities, and even languages that will help us be a functional and beneficial employee, volunteer, or asset. If you are given the chance to teach abroad, take it. It can be not only a memorable experience, but one that gives you wisdom to carry onto your future students as well.

Medical

Medicine is a career that requires its professionals to constantly be under practice. Because many countries can advance long before others, many abroad internships are offered to doctors so that they may take learned knowledge back to their home countries to save lives. Often, the countries making the contributions and the ones receiving it can come as a surprise to many. Not only technologically advanced countries find vital advancements in medicine that can benefit us all.

Volunteering

If part of your college requirements are volunteering in organizations around the globe, you will definitely want to browse the web for cheap tickets as you will likely be flying to every known end of the earth. Whether you are volunteering to help build wells in a country that doesn’t have as many as they should as an engineering student, or volunteering to run a food bank or help run a business as a business management student, these experiences will usually leave you much better for the understanding and the compassion you gain in knowing how tough things can be for many around the globe.

Although there are hundreds of careers that may require you to experience job training abroad, you will also want to check with your physician before traveling abroad to be sure you are immunized for any illnesses found in your destination that may not be as readily found in your home country.

For Leopoldo Lares Banorte, a game of soccer is all about teamwork. You can’t be successful in getting a goal if you don’t play together with your teammates. You can’t be your own team while in the fields because the opposing team has several players who will do all they can to bring you down. Every player must work together in order to achieve their common goal and that is to win. This is why it’s very important that one develops his relationship with his teammates. They need to get along with each other in order for them to win. One must not think that he should always get the goal as that could lead to the ill fate of their team.

For Leopoldo Lares Banorte, each member must be able to work with any of his/her teammates without any favorites. You should not just throw the ball to the person that is nearest you but you have to see which player is the best person to keep the ball. He trains children by preparing them with opponents that can distract them with their play. He often combines the girls and boy players so they could experience what it’s like to handle different personalities in the field. For him, the game of soccer is similar to the game of life because we need to mingle with different personalities. We get to meet good people and some bad ones and we need to handle ourselves well and learn to play the ball properly in order to hit the goal.

Leopoldo Lares Banorte is actually very passionate about soccer and he also loves children as he has his own kids who also love soccer. He made use of his talent in soccer to teach children and be able to take part in making their dreams to become a reality. Many children love soccer and he is giving them the chance to actually become great players and be able to join a winning team. It’s not about being the best player in the field but by being the best team player. He believes that training children in a team will make them wiser, stronger and less vulnerable to experiencing pain. This same principle applies to their life. By becoming successful in soccer it will give them the sense of pride that will make them become more confident with their decisions. He believes that a winning player must have the right attitude and so the discipline and training starts from within. Because of his great skills in training and disciplining children to become the best players that they could be, many parents enroll their children for him as their soccer coach because of the big change in their children especially with acquiring a good attitude.

The Columbia River Gorge’s beauty is absolutely breathtaking in spots, with deep green conifers and broad-leaf deciduous trees carpeting both sides of the river atop steep cliffs, waterfalls and huge wind-beaten basalt formations that accent an otherwise serene view.

Gradually, going east on the river will bring visitors to Hood River, high on a knoll overlooking the great river.

Hood River, Oregonis home to multiple river activities and events every year. The wind pushes toward the Washington side and is dependable, which makes it a good site for training, as well as events and competitions.

Great Scenery, Ample Room, Good Fun

At The Event Site, windsurfing and kiting competitions are frequent events. It’s a difficult area with a good west wind and contoured gravel beaches, and the river maintains a medium chop.

Everyone who’s anyone, including champion skater/snowboarder/athlete Shawn White, have played on the Columbia River. It’s a great place for families and the high desert is just a short drive further east on the highway.

In the high desert the wildlife will come out in the cool evenings and mornings. Early daytimes reveal pheasants and quail looking for food, sometimes with a gang of tiny little quail following a dedicated hen. Deer and antelope are regularly seen grazing on grass clumps and shrubs just before sundown.

Nearby is Kite Beach, where the river runs wide with a gradual shallow slope from the shoreline. A moderate west wind blows consistently over sandy beaches where it’s rated Beginners to Difficult.

It’s a rare moment when the characteristic wind isn’t brushing through the gorge, making this a perfect area for water sports.

Mixed martial arts are gaining a huge following in America, especially following the advent of Dana White’s UFC and the related reality show, Ultimate Fighter. Some industry professionals believe that MMA has already surpassed boxing in terms of popularity and there is no indication that trend will ever be reversed. The varied styles represented in MMA are often employed by the fighters in a mix-and-match method, and each fighter has his own specialties.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a style that works well for fighters who are most comfortable grappling. It focuses primarily on holds that force submissions from the fighter’s opponent in order to prevent torn ligaments, broken bones or loss of consciousness. Other fighters prefer to use more Americanized styles such as boxing and wrestling. On the other side of the fence are those athletes who practice an Eastern combat art such as Muay Thai, or kick-boxing. Personal style is also a big component of MMA. Its competitors often employ specific techniques such as trying to force the opponent into a defensive mode, or attempting to limit the opponent’s techniques by employing take-downs and grappling holds.

As MMA grows in popularity, more and more styles are making their way to the forefront of the sport. The very concept of mixed martial arts fighting allows for a great deal of creativity, both for fighters and trainers. By broadcasting most of their more important matches on pay-per-view television, the sport gains exclusivity and generates a great deal of revenue. Offering lesser matches and replays of previous fights on cable television channels help to spread the fan base.

With the extreme records that have recently been broken in several professional sports, it shouldn’t be too surprising to learn that drug use among professional athletes is becoming a huge problem. The types of drugs that are most often used are those that provide extra energy or somehow enhance the athlete’s performance. Steroid use is actually becoming a epidemic in the realm of professional American sports, but other drugs such as cocaine, amphetamines and caffeine have all been used as performance-enhancers by professional athletes.

Athletes such as boxers, wrestlers and mixed-martial arts fighters are grouped together by weight class. This means that before large matches, the fighters are weighed publically to make sure that they still fit within their weight class. This has undoubtedly led to a number of athletes in these sports using drugs that dehydrate or control appetite. Dropping several pounds quickly over a short period of time can be stressful on the healthiest body, and using diuretics is one of the surest ways.

One other type of drugs that is often abused by those who play professional sports is pain killers. Oxycodoneand Hydrocodone can help players mask the pain experienced by sore muscles and even severe injuries, allowing them to keep on playing even when it is not advisable. Until we can send a message that any type of drug abuse by athletes is unacceptable, this will likely always be a problem. Unfortunately, Americanshave yet to discover a way to do that.

There are a number of reasons that kids might be intested in playing sports while in elementary, junior high or high school, not the least of which is that it gives them an opportunity to have fun. However, parents need to be aware that sports offer more than just a good time to kids. In addition to learning the value of discipline, hard work and being part of a team, children also receive a much-needed boost in self-esteem and personal responsibility.

While it’s definitely possible to damage a child by giving too much undeserved praise, all kids have a need to hear about their successes. Praise and correction are both necessary in child rearing and in sports coaching, making these two activities work together to provide a healthy experience for kids. Those who participate in team sports, whether school-sponsored or on summer leagues, tend to develop a much healthier sense of self-worth than students who do not join sports teams.

Some parents are confused about how to deal with children who seem to have no interest in sports. If your child states that he does not want to join a team, try to ascertain the reasons behind his reluctance. Is he shy, and trying to avoid social opportunities? Is he concerned about his skills? Does he seem to enjoy watching the sport on television or going to games in person? If the answers to these questions are ”no,” you may be best served by dropping the subject. Forcing your child to participate in a sport that he has no desire to play will only alienate him.

When many who people stare in awe at the ballerinas who glide across a stage as if on airassume that these beautiful bodies are in perfect health. However, the truth is often drastically different. There is not doubt that dancers are incredibly talented at what they are doing, but beyond the extremes of their routine their health is sourly lacking.

Many people in the professional world of dance say that it is not just the physical demands that are placed on dancers that make them so unhealthy but it is the belief that any other form of exercise other than dance would inhibit the way that dancers perform. When training for other professional sports, dance is often brought in as a way to strengthen and improve training, the same should be applied to dance. However, many dancer’s health has been compared to the average person with a sedentary lifestyle simply because they are not exercising a variety of ways.

New studies have shown that by adding in additional cross training in to the common workouts performed by dancers the dancer’s health greatly increased. However, there is a firm belief in the dancing world that if dancers do anything but dance the dancer’s aesthetic appearance would change to drastically.

There is a great deal of pressure to stay within a certain body image to succeed in the world of professional dance. In many cases the dancers are so pressured to met weight limits that malnourishment becomes a grave issue. Many female ballerinas develop eating disorders and because they are not taking in the recommended daily allowance for nutrients will go on to develop osteoporosis.

You might think that if you are training for a triathlon or marathon that all you have to do is put on your running shoes and run. While running will greatly improve your health, it is not the only thing you need to do when training. Think of your training schedule as a puzzle, if you are training for a marathon running is a huge piece of the puzzle but so is cross training, strength training, and stretching.

When you are training for something you might consider enlisting professional help to ensure that you are getting a well-balanced workout and that you are as healthy as possible before you compete. When training you will most like want to balance your workouts with segments that are centered around heart rate, weight training, and flexibility. Remember that there are many aspects that are related to health, so make sure that you are targeting all the areas when training.

It is important to remember that the time that you spend in the gym is not nearly as important as what you are doing while you are there. Think of the training method “more sweat, less time”. This saying focuses on the point that if you are spending a great deal of time at the gym but are never pushing yourself farther and harder, then you will never reach your goal. Rather than focus on a timed goal, focus on raising your heart rate and increasing the amount of weight that you can life. You will get a much more balanced workout and be ready for whatever you are training for.

Every year thousands of people train to run in marathons and half marathons. Every single person who has trained and completed in a marathon or half marathon says that there is something so gratifying in pushing your body farther and faster than you thought it was capable of. They also say that running the marathon connects you with a special class of people. After all, not everyone can lay claim to the fact that they have run a marathon. However, with determination and training anyone can run a marathon, all it takes is time.

Even if you have never run a day in your life, you can train for a marathon. Like anything else in life, training comes in incriments. You can not wake up one day and decide you want to try to run five miles. Start slow and see where your starting point is. If you are able to run a few miles that is great, if not, that is fine to.

You should plan to run 3 to 4 days a week. Running in incriments is the best way to train. Plan to run for short bursts of about 4-5 minutes and then walk for half the time. Continue the walk/run pattern for a half hour to an hour a day to begin your training. One day a week should be completely devoted to a slow, long distance run. Run about an hour with longer bursts of running. Every week spend more time running and less time walking. Increase the length of your runs until you are comfortable that you will complete your marathon.

The NFL collective bargaining agreement is the contract by which both parties operate. It’s a contract that decides how the money from NFL endeavors, such as advertising and television rights, gets split between the owners who have control of the team, and the players who perform on the field.

Recently the NFL labor agreement has become a source of tension between both sides. The reason being is that the NFL has increased in popularity over the last decade to the point where the money that is coming in is nearly double what it was. That excess of money can cause either side to seek additional compensation.

The players union gets roughly 54 percent of the money generated. This is also a split number. The owners get 44 percent, but it’s after they take $1 billion right off the top for the expense to operate the team. The owners have been calling for a larger portion of the money off the top. They want the increase doubled but have denied requests for the players to see their full financial statements.

The labor agreement has it’s biggest hurdle in the court of public opinion. In other sports the fans tend to side with the players seeing as how their money is so plentiful while their risk and longevity is so minimal. Their money is viewed as the perk, like an online casino bonus. But football’s risk allows the fans to side with the players.

The NFL CBA is always a dangerous topic and it threatens football for everyone. As football gains in popularity you can expect that their disagreements will continue.

The Dakar Rally, Which was formerly known as Paris-Dakar Rally is a motor rally organized annually and it is a motor racing involving off-road machines both 2 wheelers as well as four wheelers. The Dakar Rally is annually organized by Amaury Sport Organization and the first rally was held in the year 1978. The Original Paris-Dakar Rally involved racing from Paris to Dakar in Senegal. The Dakar Rally was held every year until 2008, when it was cancelled because of the unrest and security threats in Mauritina. Until 2009 the Dakar rally was always held in Europe and Africa and for the first time in 2009 the rally was held in South America and the route run between Argentina and Chile. Even the editions after 2009 including this year’s edition of the rally are being held in the South America itself. The Dakar rally is well known as the toughest motor sport event in the world and it is an ultimate test or endurance for both the machines and the men who drive these machines. It is a completely off road event involving thru off road machines and the distances raced by the competitors may reach up to 900 kilometers per day.

The Dakar rally includes 3 different categories and they are the bike class which involves off road bikes along with a subclass including the Quadbikes. Then comes the Car class comprising of the SUVs and buggies and last is the T4 truck class. This event provides the ultimate testing grounds for the vehicle manufacturers to test the endurance and performance of their vehicles as well as display their wares. 2011 edition was won by Volkswagen Touareg driven by Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk.

Skiing is one of the recreational sports which involve using of skis to traverse across the snow and as it needs snow, winter is the best time to go skiing. Now one of the questions frequently asked by a skiing enthusiast is about the best time of the year when one can go skiing. And the answer to this question is very tricky as it is not in the hands of the humans to predict the weather or control the weather as per our whims and fancies. So it is virtually impossible to make predictions about the favorable conditions for skiing and also it depends on the region where the person wants to go for skiing. As the weather in different regions may vary to a great extent and it is the same with the average snowfall in different regions as well.

The right time of winter for skiing varies from one location to another. In some regions of the United States, the winter resorts make use of the scientific data regarding the snowfall and weather conditions in the region and publish it. It includes the average snowfall in the regions from the past one decade or more as well as the temperature readings of the region from the last few months which will help the tourists and skiing enthusiasts to decide and plan their visit to the resort at the right time of the year to take advantage of the weather.

The enthusiasts usually prefer the ending of winter to visit the resorts and take a vacation. And this is due to various reasons which include the cost of the resort which drops as winter comes to an end. The powdery snow makes skiing enjoyable and also less crowd and not to mention the less harsh weather and longer days. All these factors undoubtedly make the end of winter the right time for skiing.

Martial arts are one of the oldest arts of combat, used for defensive as well as offensive purposes and they have gradually become a part of sports as well. Among the many forms of martial arts known to us, Muay Thai is one. Muay Thai is also known as Thai Kick boxing is an ancient art of self defense practiced in Thailand and gradually spread across the world. Nowadays this technique is practiced all around the world as a sport and also practiced by various army and intelligence agencies as a very efficient close combat technique. Muay Thai techniques are practiced and used by the US Navy SEALS, Thai Military, CIA and other organizations.

Unlike other forms of martial arts there is no belt grading system in Muay Thai and the student of Muay Thai participates in fights and competitions to win in order to showcase their skills and to prove their dominant skills.

The Muay Thai competitions are very brutal and the striking techniques involved in Muay Thai are very powerful and capable of breaking bones easily in one strike. In the other forms of martial arts, more emphasis is given on the grappling techniques but Muay Thai does not include any of these techniques and the bone breaking kicks and punches are given more emphasis. This is mainly because this technique was followed in combats and not as a leisure practice and subduing the opponent before he can do any harm is very important. The elbow and knee techniques involved in Muay Thai are lethal and it is respected as well as feared by people around the world. The shins, knees, elbows and fists are most widely used in Muay Thai and the student constantly strives to improve his speed which makes their moves fast, accurate and deadly. All these things make it a very respectable and a dangerous sport around the world.

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry. Since 1993, many players enjoy lucrative contracts with the NFL. Prior to 1993, most of the NFL’s best players made money through endorsements. Salaries prior to 1993 were a fraction of salaries that many players obtained after 1993.

This has left many of the great NFL players homeless and penniless. Many of these players have failing health and much of the failing health is related to the beating many of these players endured on the field.

While team owners claim players are greedy and the players claim team owners are the ones consumed with greed, many previous players struggle to live off pensions of $800 to $1200 per month. Most players earn pensions under $800 per month.

Many players donate funds to help older players with expenses. However, the NFL and its current players are not very generous. Many people are under the impression most retired players are wealthy. This is far from the truth. Many of the players that played before 1993, when more lucrative contracts were given, scrape by and some are actually homeless.

The NFL has forgotten about most of these players. These are the players that helped to make the NFL what it is today. It is said to hear that some of the great stars of the NFL die penniless or are broke from soaring medical costs due to injuries incurred while they played football.

There are not many of the old players that are alive, surely the NFL can muster up enough money to help the ones that are still here. Apparently, the NFL feels no responsibility to these players other than the pensions the players receive.

Sadly, the public believes all NFL football players are rich. They are under the impression that many great players in the past simply squandered their earnings. The truth is that before 1993 players did make a decent living; however, there were not multi-million dollar contracts back then.

It appears Jose Conseco has another book left in him. Maybe he is just running out of money. Jose Conseco had a brilliant baseball career and back in 2005 decided to write a couple of tell-all books about baseball’s dirty steroid secrets.

He did not just write about his own steroid use, but implicated many of his teammates. His book caused a great deal of outrage and many baseball players denied Conseco’s accusations. Most of them later admitted to steroid use.

The widespread steroid use exposed by Jose Conseco threatened the credibility of the Major League Baseball organization. Jose Conseco became one of the most controversial baseball players in the history of the game. He angered many of his teammates and friends when he exposed the use of steroids by many professional baseball players. He claimed that at least 85 percent of major league baseball players used steroids and on point or another.

Since then Jose Conseco has lived a life filled with controversy. To this day, there are many baseball fans that harbor a great deal of resentment toward Jose Conseco. Whether Jose Conseco was trying to do a good thing by exposing steroid use is debatable. Many feel he chose to write his first two books only to benefit monetarily.

It appears that Jose Conseco has one more book he would like to share with the world. He plans to release a book that discusses how the previous two books affected his life. Unfortunately, he does not yet have a publisher and may have to find a way to publish the book on his own. It may be that people will not be interested in the stories of his personal hardships caused by his other two books.

Jose Conseco was in fact a phenomenal baseball player at one time. However, he achieved greatness through the use of steroids and achieved notoriety by writing two books exposing the use of steroids in professional sports. The world does not really need another book written by Jose Conseco.

If you’re not up to date on sports betting, you certainly have some catching up to do. It is not as simple as betting on who will win what game – there are additional options that add to the fun. Here are some tips to guide you through the world of sports betting.

You should first know that sports betting can be done at an online casino. This will enable you to make bets whenever it is comfortable, as all you need is an internet connection. Simply log onto the site, do some research, and place your bets. When you place your bet, you may be confused on what the terms refer to. The money line refers to the odds based on what team will win. Thus, if you see the underdog (the team that isn’t favored) as a +100 for the money line, you will receive what you put down on the game if this team wins.

The other basic term is the spread. This refers to the amount that a team must win by, or the losing team must lose by (if +5.5 they need to win by less than six points) to win the bet. For example, if the Knicks are favored by 7.5 points (viewed -7.5), then they will need to win by eight points to win the bet.

Don’t be too confused by other terms. A parlay allows you to bet on multiple games at once, adding to your odds and potential payout. A teaser gives you more favorable odds on more than one game, but lessens the potential payout. Other terms you can read about later, such as props betting (i.e., Will a player score more than 23.5 points?).

Take the opportunity to read about the types of sports bets and get ready for sports betting on the Internet. This is a great way to stay involved in sports and win a bit of extra money.

Carson Palmer has asked to be traded after eight seasons with the Bengals. However, it appears Mike Brown, Cincinnati Bengals president is unwilling to honor Palmer’s request. Palmer has previously indicated he will retire if his request for trade is not honored.

It seems Carson Palmer is going to retire. A real estate agent has confirmed that the Palmer home may hit the market by March. Palmer has yet to come forward to deny the story.

Carson Palmer’s career with the Bengals has not been a great one. At one point fans became so frustrated with Palmer’s game performance, they through garbage on the lawn of his home. Fans have highly criticized Palmer’s performance over the past eight seasons and many of the fans would be happy to see him go.

It would seem a trade or Palmer’s retirement is the best thing that could happen to the Bengals. Palmer’s performance with the team has not resulted in much success for the Bengals. Fan frustration with Palmer is high and it does not appear the frustration will not disappear any time soon. Palmer’s contract with the Bengals runs through 2014. Many fans cannot seem to bear another year with Palmer.

It is easy to understand why Palmer is ready to leave the Bengals. It is unlikely his performance will improve with the team. The opportunity to have a great NFL career has passed. He is in his early thirties and his best years have probably already passed. Palmer has had eight years with the Bengals and has been unable to deliver a great performance.

Palmer feels strongly about being traded and he may feel his only way out of the Bengals will be to retire. Whether he is traded or retires will not make a difference to the fans. Only time will tell if Mike Brown will change his mind and allow Carson Palmer to be traded. In the meantime, it appears Palmer is planning on moving.

In a quest to be the best, many pro-athletes have resorted to steroid use. When an athlete does achieve success, the question of steroid use lingers in the background. People wonder if the athlete may have used steroids to advance to the category of top-level athlete.

Many athletes have been caught using steroids. However, this does not deter other athletes from doing the same. Athletes are highly competitive and many will turn to steroids to be considered the best. Most of them will eventually be caught or their careers may end due to illness from the steroids.

Steroids are dangerous and in many cases can cause death. Regardless of the warnings against steroid use and the health risks, many athletes will still choose to use steroids. Steroids adversely alter an athlete’s personality and often causes a person to feel rage. This rage has led to many deaths. There have been several cases in which an athlete killed a spouse or even children.

Despite the horror stories, many athletes feel it will not happen to them.

Unfortunately, steroid use has spread to college and high school athletics. The dream of becoming a highly paid professional athlete drives many young people to turn to steroids to achieve their goals. Many young people do not believe that steroids are harmful. They believe the terrible side effects only happen to a few unfortunate athletes.

The reality is that many illnesses related to steroids may not show up until several years after their use. Most of the damage caused by steroids is irreversible. In addition, steroids can cause damage to a person’s psychological state. Many steroid users will have to take prescription psych drugs for the rest of their lives.

Many of the world’s best athletes achieved their status without the use of steroids. These athletes chose hard work and practice over the quick fix of steroids. It is possible to be the best without using steroids.

Imagine having the ability to watch any baseball game even games that are out-of-market. MLB TV allows fans to watch almost any game live on a host of devices such as the iPhone, iPad and many other devices.

This is great for those that may be away from home when there favorite team is playing. You can watch the game on your laptop or many other mobile devices. It does not matter where you are, you will be able to watch and keep up with any baseball game.

For hardcore baseball fans, MLB TV is a dream come true. If you have to miss a game because you have to work or have to be away from home for any reason, you can still watch your favorite team play. Although, if you are at work your employer may not appreciate the fact you are watching a baseball game.

You have the choice of two subscriptions of $119.95 or $99.95. The feeds are in high definition and each package offers additional benefits such as clickable scores and much more.

For avid baseball fans, this is a small price to pay to watch live as their favorite team plays. In addition, you are able to get up-to-date information on every game. You will also watch any of the 150 exhibitions during Spring Training and have access to over 2,000 out-of-market games.

MLB TV promises to add more viewing devices to meet the needs of baseball fans. Baseball fans now have the ability to watch hundreds of games live that normally they would have to watch after the games were already played. Baseball fans no longer need to search through the sports section of the newspaper to read about their favorite team. Instead, baseball fans can watch every game live.

In an attempt to set beat an attendance record for the Super Bowl, seating was expanded in the Cowboys Stadium. The intent was to increase the seating by 1,250 seats to break the attendance record. Some fans paid $100,000 for season tickets to earn the right to have seats at the Super Bowl.

Only about 800 of the fans were accommodated with seats. The other 450 fans had to watch the Super Bowl on television. Apparently, the 1250 temporary seats were not completely installed, which left 450 people without seats at the Super Bowl.

The other 800 fans sat in fold out chairs and could hardly see the game because of the obstructed view. Imagine the fan’s disappointment after paying so much money.

When these fans purchased the season tickets and the right to attend the Super Bowl, they did not have any idea that the seating was in the temporary section. In order to break the Super Bowl attendance record, little thought was given to the location of the seats. It did not seem to matter if the seats were placed in locations where a person could not actually see the game.

Now, the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys are being sued for approximately 5 million dollars in damages. The NFL has offered the 400 fans without seats, tickets to next year’s Super Bowl and a payment of $2,400 or the option for a ticket to a future Super Bowl event, hotel and airfare accommodations.

Apparently, this offer is unacceptable to the 400 fans that were left without a seat during the Super Bowl. The NFL did not seem to consider the 800 that did get seats, were unhappy sitting in metal chairs and trying to watch the game around the obstructed views.

Maybe the next time a host city wants to set a seating record, they will reconsider.

Evan Frank Lysacek was born June 4, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois. While growing up in Naperville, Illinois, Lysacek received a pair of ice skates from his grandmother, who wanted him to be in the Ice Capades. Evan, however, always wanted to play hockey, so his mother enrolled him in ice skating lessons so he could perfect skating before trying out the rough sport. Much to his surprise, Evan began to excel at figure skating and began skating competitively.

By 1996, Evan was already competing nationally, winning the U.S. national title at the juvenile level. He continued to move up in the ranks in the U.S. Figure Skating competitive structure, and by the age of 13 he won the Novice title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The following year, he earned the Junior title at the 2000 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Evan began skating at the international level as well, earning second place at the 2001 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. He lost only to American Johnny Weir, and together they became the first American pair since 1987 to take home the gold and silver medals from the competition.

In 2003, Evan graduated from high school and opted to change coaches. He chose to work with Ken Congemi and Frank Carroll, who took his skating to the next level as he began to compete in the senior level. In 2007, Evan won his first national title after cleaning landing a quadruple jump in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. He won the title again in 2008, and followed that up with a win at the 2009 World Figure Skating Championships.

Evan skated in his first Olympics games during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He was in second after the short program, but skated a clean yet difficult free skate, boosting him to first place. Evan became the first American since Brian Boitano in 1988 to take home the gold medal.

Nolan Ryan is not only one of the greatest pitchers to play professional baseball, he is a man of outstanding work ethic, morals and class. Ryan’s class as an athlete follows him as a team president.

No one ever dreamed the Texas Rangers would make it to the World Series. Even when Ryan pitched for the beloved Texas baseball team, he couldn’t get them to the series. Regardless, he is revered as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. His consistency, and ability to continue to throw a blazing fastball at the age of 46 was unbelievable.

Those who have followed his career and life will tell you that it was more than athleticism that made Nolan Ryan a professional baseball hero. He is a man who believes in hard work, dedication, honesty, integrity, and what a real professional athlete is supposed to be. He is a willing role model to youngsters.

Although Ryan was the first million dollar pitcher in pro baseball, he never played the game for the money. He played it for the game. He wanted to honor baseball and give it his best.

As a team president, it’s apparent that Ryan’s values made it to the Texas Rangers’ locker room. He is known for his tough approach to building a strong pitching team. His philosophy is that a pitcher will never know his potential if he never pushes his limit. As a 46 year old pitcher with a serious ability to throw strikes, Nolan personally knows the industry is not meeting its athletic potential. He made his pitchers sprint and throw to live batters in the Texas heat in order to toughen them up. The result is strong pitchers.

As a businessman, Ryan is at work by 9:30 every morning. If he’s not with the team, he’s working from home. Not only does he work hard on the field, but he works hard on living a successful life.

The Russian-American gymnast Nastia Liukin was born as Anastasia Valeryevna Liukin on October 30, 1989 in Moscow, Russia. She was well-poised to become a gymnast: her father, Valeri, was Olympic gold medal–winning gymnast for the Soviet Union, and her mother, Anna Kotcheva was a World Champion rhythmic gymnast. The family relocated to the United States when Nastia was a young child.

Too poor to afford a babysitter, Nastia’s parents brought her along to the gym while they worked as gymnastics coaches, and she quickly developed an interest in the sport. Knowing the pain and stress of competing as an athlete, Nastia’s parents never encouraged their daughter to follow in their footsteps. But, by the age of three, Nastia was set on becoming a gymnast herself.

At the age of 12, Nastia participated in her first major competition—the National Championships. Although she suffered a fall on the uneven bars, she placed 15th overall, and earned a spot on the U.S. National Team. The following year, Nastia emerged as one of the best junior gymnasts in the nation, earning the all-around gold medal at the U.S. National Championships.

Nastia continued to further her career and prove her merits as a gymnast, and by 2006 she became a two-time senior National Champion.

In 2008, Nastia competed with the U.S. team in the summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Competing on the beam, floor, and uneven bars, she helped the U.S. team win the silver medal. She went on to perform clean routines on all four events to win the individual all-around gold medal, becoming the third American woman to win the title. Nastia also won a bronze medal on the floor, a silver on the beam and a silver on the uneven bars, bringing her total medal count to five overall in Beijing. This medal count ties Mary Lou Retton and Shannon Miller’s record for the most medals earned by an American gymnast during one Olympics.

U.S. Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on October 18, 1984. Her father, Alan Kildow, was a former national junior skiing champion before a knee injury prevented him from competing further. Alan heavily encouraged his daughter to take up the sport of skiing and got her on skis by the age of two. As a child, Lindsey entered Erich Sailer’s acclaimed development program at Buck Hill. When Lindsey was ten, she met the accomplished skier Picabo Street, a meeting that made such an impact on Picabo that she became Lindsey’s mentor as she began skiing competitively.

In the nineties, Lindsey and her family moved to Vail, Colorado—a city that would better foster her skiing talent. The move proved to work; by the late nineties, Lindsey was competing internationally and making a name for herself in the skiing world. Lindsey was the first American female to win the Trofeo Topolino—a skiing competition in Italy for young adult skiers.

After competing in the World Cup with the U.S. ski team in 2000, Lindsey made her Olympic debut in 2002 in Salt Lake City. She competed in the slalom and combined and finished a respectable sixth overall.

At the following Winter Olympic games in Torino, Italy, Lindsey crashed during a practice run and had to stay in the hospital overnight. She suffered a bruised hip, but returned to compete the following day, placing eighth overall. Although she didn’t medal, she did take home the Olympic Spirit Award thanks to her determination and optimism.

With no Olympic medals to her name, by the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Lindsey was determined to take home a win. Although she suffered from a severely bruised shin, Lindsey finally took home a gold medal after beating her teammate and friend Julia Mancuso in the downhill event.

If you’re interested in running races, a 5K is the perfect place to start. A 5K is equivalent to 3.1 miles. Many communities host 5K runs throughout the year as fundraisers, and you can start by walking in the events to get a better feel for the race and the distance you’ll need to run.

As you prepare for the race, gradually add challenges to your fitness routine to work yourself up to running the full distance. Those who start out doing too much too fast will experience difficulty; not used to the strenuous activity, their bodies will begin to rebel. Easing into a running routine the prime way to effectively, healthily prepare for a 5K.

You should begin your training for the 5K two to three months prior to the race. For the first week, you should workout two to three times per week. Start with a brisk five-minute walk, and then aim to jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds for a total of 20 minutes. The following week, switch your routine to jogging for 90 seconds and walking for two minutes. For the days that you do not train, allow yourself to rest, or simply take a leisurely walk.

As the race nears, you should be primarily running during your workouts. For instance, about three weeks before the race, you should start with brisk five-minute walk followed by a 2.5-mile run. Two weeks prior to the vent, aim to run for 2.75 miles, and finally, the week before the 5K run the total distance of the race to see how your body handles the challenge.

The day before the race, be sure to get plenty of race. Eat sensibly, and include carbs and protein in your diet. Drink plenty of water to ensure your body is properly hydrated.

Triathlons are often said to be one of the ultimate tests of physical endurance and fitness as participants bike, swim, and run for miles with very little rest between each leg.

To succeed in a triathlon, it’s essential to train and prepare so your body is physically fit and ready to take on the events of the triathlon. Just as important as training, however, is the proper equipment. State of the art equipment and apparel can give you an edge over the competition and help you get on top. With the right equipment, you can swim, bike, and run faster.

If you are unsure of what equipment you need, a triathlon store can steer you in the right direction. The associates are knowledgeable about various types of equipment, and many are seasoned triathletes themselves. The triathlon store should be able to provide recommendations on the following types of equipment:

Shoes – Many triathlon participants swear by ZOOT Triathlon footwear, and numerous professional triathletes wear these shoes. Your triathlon store will probably recommend them. ZOOT footwear is ideal for triathlons because it is lightweight and comfortable, allowing you to run quickly for long distances.

Swimwear – A neoprene wetsuit is your best bet. Not only will it keep you warmer in the water, but the neoprene is slicker than your skin, so you glide through the water faster. It helps you remain buoyant, too, which also increases speed.

Hydration Systems – These are a triathlon must-have. A lightweight hydration system will keep you properly hydrated throughout the races so you don’t slow down or, even worse, pass out from dehydration.

These are just a few types of equipment you will need for your triathlon. Once you find a triathlon store, they can assist you in finding the perfect ZOOT footwear, swimwear, bicycles, apparel, and everything else you need to stay on top.

Kristine (Kristi) Yamaguchi was born July 12, 1971, in Hayward, California, to Jim, a dentist, and Carole, a medical secretary. As a child, Kristi watched ice skater Dorothy Hamill win the Olympic gold medal in 1976, and Hamill instantly became Kristi’s idol. Kristi’s parents enrolled her in skating lessons, which they hoped would double as physical therapy for her severely clubbed feet. Kristi was a natural on ice, and she fell in love with the sport.

She began competing in the sport, and, in 1986, she took the junior pairs title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships with Rudy Galindo. Rudy and Kristi were an unusual pair; the two were both acclaimed singles skaters, and unlike other couples, they jumped and spun in opposite directions. Still, Rudy and Kristi continued their winning streak in 1988, winning the World Junior Championships. Kristi also nabbed the singles title at the competition.

Beginning in 1990, Kristi focused her time on singles competitions. She won the U.S. senior ladies competition in 1992, as well as the World Championships in 1992. Also in 1992, Kristi went to the Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. Although her competitors included the triple axel jump in their programs, Kristi opted to leave the difficult feat out. Instead, she impressed the judges with her artistic movements and the triple lutz-triple toe loop-toe loop combination. She nabbed the gold medal, becoming the first ladies figure skater since Yvonne Sherman to win the U.S. senior pairs and ladies figure skating titles.

Following the eventful 1992 season, Kristi became a professional. As a professional, she toured with Stars on Ice and competed in the professional circuit. Today, she is focusing on family life; she is the mother of two and is married to the former NHL player Bret Hedican.

Triathlons consist of running, swimming and cycling and are becoming increasingly popular among skilled athletes and beginners alike. Hosted around the country, triathlons are offered in a variety of skill levels, including the fast-paced sprint form to the endurance-testing ironman. If you’re considering participating in a triathlon, be sure to properly train and prepare for the event to achieve the best possible execution.

1. Purchase the necessary equipment you’ll need to train and participate in the triathlon. You’ll need a swimsuit, swimming cap and goggles for the swim; a bike and bike helmet for the biking portion and a strong pair of running shoes for the run. Access your equipment again immediately before the triathlon to ensure it will hold up properly on the day of the race.

2. Write a training plan, keeping the distances of your choice triathlon in mind. While your ultimate goal should be these distances, don’t try to do too much too fast. Start by pacing yourself on shorter distances, and try to increase the distance you run, swim and cycle by 10 percent each week. Every two to three weeks, allow yourself to have a more relaxed week of training to give your body time to rest.

3. Take extra time training for your weakest sport, and focus less time on the sport that you’re most skilled in. For most triathletes, swimming is the most difficult task of the three. But whatever your weakest sport, be sure to give your body additional time to become comfortable with the sport.

4. Learn how to handle the transitions effectively and in a short amount of time. Transitions are the periods of time in between each sport, and involve changing equipment and changing into and out of your swimsuit. These portions of the event are timed and can often negatively affect the triathletes’ time.

Lamar Odom was born on November 6, 1979, and grew up in South Jamaica, Queens, New York—an area ravaged by drug dealers and addicts. He was raised by his mother, Cathy Mercer, who died when Odom was 12. His grandmother took over caring for him, helping keep him off the streets and nurturing his talent for basketball.

Odom had always been tall for his age and had developed a love of basketball at a young age. By the time he had reached high school, he was earning national attention. As a high school sophomore at Christ the King, he earned 36 points while playing for a spot in the city championship. He was named Player of the Year by Parade Magazine in 1997 and was named to the USA Today All-USA 1st Team as a senior.

Odom went on to college, playing for the University of Rhode Island and earning 17.6 points per game. After one year of playing for the school, Odom declared his eligibility for the NBA draft in 1999. The six-foot-ten-inch forward was chosen by the Los Angeles Clippers. After a successful first year with the team, Odom was named to the 2000 NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Following his time with the Clippers, Odom was acquired by the Miami Heat in 2003, where he had a solid season.

Odom followed his season with the Miami Heat by playing in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, helping the U.S. National Team earn a bronze medal.

The Miami Heat went on to trade Odom for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004. Although the Heat heavily courted Odom to return to the team in 2009, Odom opted to stay with the Lakers and sign a four-deal with the team. This deal proved beneficial, as Odom played a vital role in helping the Lakers earn a NBA Championship in 2010.

Poker might possibly be the most popular game in the history of time. It dates back more than ten centuries and can be seen in various forms all over the world. So why is poker so appealing? Probably because gambling is addictive and can provide hours of fun.

Poker is not only a game you can play, but it is a spectator sport too. If you watch someone play poker long enough, you will begin to see patterns that will help you discover a bluff. Knowing how to read people is what the game is all about. Some people have been so successful that they have won millions of dollars just playing because they can read someone’s poker face. Watching Poker is also a great way to learn all the rules and some of the skill needed to be good.

Technology has done a lot for the game too. Poker has been broadcast on TV periodically throughout the history of television, mostly the final round of the World Series of Poker. Recently, though, poker has been getting more and more popular on TV. It’s actually quite entertaining to watch and there are stars just like there are on other shows.

In 1997, the poker cam was invented, which is probably why Poker has been on TV more. The poker cam enables the viewers to see the hands of all the players when they show them to the camera. This makes the game a lot more entertaining to watch because you know when people are bluffing and when they’re not. Many tournaments are broadcast on ESPN and their alternate channels.

If you are interested in playing Poker in the big leagues, you are going to need to do a lot of practice. This means watching the game on TV, playing in online casinos, reading information, and having your go with friends around one of those custom poker tables. Poker is a game that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was born as Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr., on April 16, 1947, weighing over 12 pounds and measuring 22 ½ inches long. Kareem grew up in Manhattan as the only child of Cora Lillian, a department store employee, and Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Sr., a transit police officer.

Kareem excelled at basketball from an early age. Playing for the Power Memorial Academy high school, he helped his team earn three New York City Catholic Championships and a 79–2 overall record.

While in college, Kareem played three seasons for the UCLA Bruins, leading his team to 88 wins and only two losses. To this day, Kareem still holds individual records at UCLA, including most points in a season (870) and most points in a single game (61).

Following college, Kareem turned down a $1 million contract with the Harlem Globetrotters, opting instead to play for the young Milwaukee Bucks team. With Kareem and the famed Oscar Robertson, the Bucks ended its 1970–71 season with 20 straight wins and 66 total wins. Kareem was named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA following the ’71 season; he would go on to win six MVP awards throughout his career.

In 1975, Kareem traded the biting Milwaukee winters for the warmer Los Angeles sunshine to play for the Lakers. During his first season with the team, Kareem averaged 27.7 points per game and achieved the most defensive rebounds in the NBA with 1,111—a record that still stands today.

In 1979, with Kareem and the newly acquired Magic Johnson, the Lakers became an unstoppable force and remained a dominant team throughout the 1980s. The Lakers went to the finals a total of eight times during the decade and won five NBA Championships.

After twenty seasons as a professional basketball player, Kareem announced his retirement on June 28, 1989.

Andre Agassi was born in Las Vegas in 1970. His father, Mike Agassi, was an avid boxer and pushed his son to become a star athlete himself from a very early age. In fact, as soon as Andre could walk, Mike had taped a tennis racket to his son’s hand and hung a tennis ball over his crib. A tennis instructor himself, Mike taught Andre the basics of mastering the court. By age 13, Andre had earned a spot at Nick Bollettieri’s famed Tennis Academy in Florida.

Andre turned professional at 16, and by December 1987 he surpassed $2 million in prize money after playing in 43 tournaments, setting a record for earning the most money in the least amount of time. That same year he set the record for most consecutive victories by a male teenager—a record that was not broken until 2005 by Rafael Nadal. He started developing a bad-boy style, sporting long hair and colorful outfits, which intrigued audiences and caused sponsors to flock to him.

Andre scored his first major title with his Wimbledon win in 1992, despite previously refusing to play the tournament because of its “predominately white” dress code. He eventually shaved his head and shed his bad-boy image and went on to win eight Grand Slam titles. He won his final title in 2003 after defeating the German tennis player Rainer Schüttler in straight sets.

By 2006, Andre was battling extreme back pain. At his final tournament—the U.S. Open—he was receiving anti-inflammatory shots after each match. He eventually lost to Benjamin Becker of Germany, but received an eight-minute standing ovation from the crowd to commemorate his exciting and successful career as a professional tennis player.

Andre is married to former tennis player Steffi Graf, and the pair have two children. He works passionately with charities, including his own Andre Agassi Charitable Association to help Las Vegas youth.

MMA or Mixed Martial Arts is one of those sports that are rapidly gaining popularity in the US as well as in rest of the world. It is basically a mixture of various forms of martial arts in one single sport that allows a wide range of fighting techniques. It is a contact sport that allows both striking and grappling. The player can hit or get hit both while standing and lying on the ground.

One reason for the growing popularity of MMA is the Ultimate Fighting Championship. UFC was started in 1993 with the minimum set of rules to decide the best possible style for martial arts. Today it is world’s largest company that promotes MMA. UFC organizes numerous high profile MMA championship events every year and hosts many high-ranked MMA players. It was reformed in 2001 and is known as the new UFC since then with stricter rules. The new UFC has helped MMA reach every home by telecasting live match on pay-per-view TV around the world.

After the regulations in UFC were made stricter, the regulations of MMA clothing came onto the scene. With the growing popularity of MMA, the MMA clothes are not only limited to players, but they have become a style statement. The most recognized brand when it comes to MMA clothing is Tapout. Mainly famous for their line of Tapout shirts, they have a wide range of product line including MMA fight shorts, caps, etc. The prices of Tapout being very reasonable, it stands as the favorite MMA clothing brand for the youth.

Since MMA is a contact sport that holds the possibility of the player being hurt, it is extremely important for the player to be physically fit, active and alert. Being properly dressed and trained as per the UFC rules is a must for the new players, who want to master the art of MMA.

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a professional athlete on a winning team traveling from city to city? From the outside it probably looks like the most exciting life a person could have. While all thatmay be true to an extent, there is a sideto being a successful athlete that few realize. The time athletes spend away from home is legendary and this can wreak havoc ona familyespecially those with school-aged children. Finding the right apartment canmake all the difference.

Though being the new guy or gal in town can be quite daunting, there are plenty of ways to make even a temporary city feel like home. Finding apartments for rent in Pittsburgh, for example, can be as easy as performing a quick search online. A simple site such as this can save loads of time and energy by helping an athlete customize their search for a new yet temporary home. Sites help future apartment dwellers zero in on their choice of apartment amenities such as wood floors or whether or not furnished units are available, community amenities can be chosen as well providing options such as short term leases and door attendants. Sites such as this are almost as good as personal recommendations becauseperspective renterscan actually “see” an apartment forthemselves and make concrete decisions before they ever decide to do a traditional walk-through. This can save tons of time and energy.

Traveling doesn’t have to be miserable all the time especially if there is a place to call home that actually feels like home. The best way to achieve this is to make use of the tools at hand and perhaps findsomethingthat feels tailor made and even unique. Renting the right apartment can give even Athletes with the busiest schedules a sense of stability.

People who excel in a certain field typically have the talent to do so. If your best assets are your physical ability and prowess in a particular sport, then recognizing it, committing to it, and then setting a plan in motion to become a professional athlete can be a reality. It won’t be easy, but the right steps and planning can be the difference between making the cut or not.

Regardless of natural talent, practice is necessary. As a young person, get involved in community leagues, school teams, and any other opportunities to improve. Pay attention to coaches. Spend that extra time one on one, if you can. Study the sport. Learn the rules, regulations and techniques that will make you worth it. Academic grades are important, too, because many professional athletes get the boost into the pro world via a college team. Very few young athletes are good enough upon graduating from high school to make it to the pros.

Great athletes are great at the mental game, too. Therefore, a professional will have intense concentration, a great attitude, determination, and extreme discipline. Professionals get up and work out or practice without excuse. They don’t let a set back break them down. They see every failure as a challenge, and they welcome them. A pro is always looking for opportunities to get better.

How you conduct your life can make a difference, too. If you’re the best player that ever lived, you might get some slack, but if you’re in the pack, team owners don’t have time for trouble.

It seems like it’s every little boy or gir’s dream to become a professional athlete. And what’s not to dream about? Traveling around the world, making lots of money, being admired by old and young everywhere, and of course, the money. But it takes much more than a dream and a desire to be a professional athlete. If you think you’ve got what it takes to make it in the pros, check out these tips.

1.	Find your passion. You can’t be an expert in everything. If you like to play basketball and baseball, decide which sport you like best and stick with it. You’ll need a lot of dedication and practice to make it in the big leagues, so sticking to just one sport will give you the chance to really improve your sport.

2.	Be physically fit. Again, becoming a professional athlete does not come by just wishing it. You have to work out and be physically fit in order to be successful. Every athlete in the world works out, eats right, and takes care of their body. When your body is in top physical shape, you’ll be able to push it to its limits and really excel.

3.	Have a realistic attitude. If you get too caught up in making it big, you may actually miss the good times you can have playing sports. Don’t let your dream of being a professional athlete get in the way of actually loving the sport. If you take it too seriously, you’ll end up not liking the hours and hours you’ll have to play in order to get really good.

4.	Set goals. Any successful person, in sports or in business, sets goals. Set your goals small at first, such as getting strong enough to run a mile, and then set bigger goals. You need goals in order to succeed.

Follow these simple steps and you may find yourself playing sports professionally one day.

Is it your dream to become the next Derek Jeter? If you have a dream to become a professional baseball player, then you know there’s a lot of work ahead of you. You can’t just wake up one morning and decide you’re going to be a baseball player. You have to practice, keep in shape, and most importantly, you have to have some talent. If you think you want to play in the big leagues and become a professional baseball player, ask yourself these questions before you set out to work on your dream.

1.	Do you have talent? No matter how much you want something, if you don’t have any natural talent, it may be a lost case. You could still work towards your dream if you don’t have any talent; it’s just going to be a lot harder.

2.	Are you prepared to work? There’s no doubt about it. Becoming a professional baseball player will take work – a lot of it. You’ll have to practice, even on the weekends and give up hanging out with friends.

3.	Do you eat right? Part of being a professional baseball player is being healthy. That means eating right and exercising. Sure, that Twinkie might look good, but if you are serious about becoming an athlete, you better put the Twinkie down and pick up an apple instead.

4.	Are you realistic? Most professional baseball players don’t end up signing with the Yankees or the Giants their first year. In fact, many baseball players never make it out of the minor leagues. If you want to play ball, be sure that you have realistic expectations.

Now, it’s time to get out there and start playing ball! Nobody ever got to their dream of being a professional baseball player by sitting around thinking about it. Start practicing and you could be in the big leagues before long.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a professional basketball player? Does it seem all glamorous, full of fancy cars, diamond earrings, and women flocking to you? While these are aspects of a professional basketball player’s lifestyle, there’s so much more that the public never really realizes. Check out some of the less commons aspects of a professional basketball player’s lifestyle.

1.	Travel. And lots of it. While this might sound like fun to a lot of people, the truth is that basketball players travel from town to town right in a row. There’s never a break for sight seeing or enjoying the new surroundings. It’s always straight into the city, to the game, and then back on the plane for the next night’s game.

2.	Playing on holidays. While we all enjoy a basketball game on Thanksgiving or Christmas, the professionals are actually away from their families and friends those days in order to entertain us. Many people don’t think about the sacrifice the athlete is making in order to be playing a game while we’re home relaxing.

3.	Community responsibilities. Many pro basketball players have a commitment to the community. They have to be good examples to the citizens and represent the city well. Many of the athletes often are committed to community events or charity organizations. This takes a lot of time, on and off the basketball court to make happen.

4.	A lifetime of commitment. Yes, becoming a professional basketball player is a lifetime commitment. There are no days off from training or practicing. Basketball is basically your life, so you might as well forget any other hobbies, until you retire at least.

With all that being said, professional basketball players choose this career because they love the sport. They are talented and love to entertain. The next time you think about becoming a professional basketball player, be sure to consider all the lifestyle elements, not just the glamorous stuf.

Have you ever wondered what professional basketball players eat every day? They have to have a lot of energy in order to run up and down the court. Plus, they are strong and athletic. What do they put into their bodies to keep going so strong? Well, the answer may (or may not) surprise you. Let us take a look at the average diet of a professional basketball player.

1.	Basketball players eat carbs. And lots of them. There is no such thing as an Atkin’s diet here. Carbohydrates give basketball players the energy they need to run for hours and keep up their strength. The carbs fuel their bodies and give them the energy to last the entire four quarters.

2.	A variety of fruits and vegetables. Most athletes eat very healthy. That means no junk food and a lot of fruits and vegetables. You get the most nutrients from dark leafy greens and fruits of the season. Good nutrition is key to staying well and healthy. After all, a basketball player won’t be very useful on the court if he’s got a nasty cold or the flu.

3.	Do not forget the protein. Lean meats like turkey and chicken are also an important part of a balanced diet. Protein helps muscles to stay strong.

4.	Drink lots of water. Water keeps our bodies hydrated and it is the same for a basketball player. Downing water before, after, and during a basketball game keeps the player’s body well hydrated.

5.	Add in supplements. Vitamins and antioxidants are great supplements that many pro athletes add to their diets. These legal substances help athletes to have more energy, to stay healthy, and to recover faster.

If you want to eat like a professional basketball player, keep these ideas in mind. Even if you cannot play like the pros, you certainly can eat like one.

Have you ever wondered what a pro athlete’s diet looks like? You probably know a professional athlete, whether playing basketball, football, baseball, or any other professional sport consists of healthy eating. Things like lean protein, lots of fruits and vegetables, and drinking lots of water are definitely on the list. But have you ever wondered what a day’s worth of meals actually looks like? Let’s take a look at a sample professional athlete’s daily food intake.

Most athletes eat smaller meals throughout the day. Instead of the typical three meals a day that the average person eats, an athlete will eat 6-7 smaller meals. A day of food may look like this:

Breakfast: Bowl of cereal with fiber, such as Raisin Bran. Orange juice and a piece of fruit, like a banana or an orange.

Snack: yogurt, piece of fruit, cottage cheese.

Lunch: turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread (lean protein and carbs in one meal). Glass of milk and another piece of fruit.

Snack: Peanut butter sandwich or a couple of granola bars.

Dinner: Baked chicken, baked potato (forget the sour cream), steamed vegetables, and a small dinner roll.

Snack: Yes, another snack. An English muffin or another piece of fruit.

And, of course, there’s plenty of water in there too. There are no sugary drinks or carbonation in this menu plan.

As you can see, the pro athlete’s diet is very simple and very healthy. All of the food choices an athlete puts into his body has to make a difference. If he’s about to play a game, he’ll need the carbs for energy. If he’s had a tough strength training workout, then the protein is extremely important for building muscles that have broken down. All of the food an athlete eats make a difference in his performance, so every calorie counts.

We all know it. Professional basketball players are in great shape. They have defined muscles, lean bodies, and practically zero percent body fat. But if you aren’t a professional basketball player, how do you get the body of one? It’s simple. Through diet and exercise. Check out some of the exercises a professional basketball player might do to keep in shape.

1.	Lift weights. Yes, professional basketball players lift weights. Strength training is an important part of a workout schedule. Muscles burn more calories, so you are more likely to stay at your target weight when you add in weight lifting. You are also stronger and better able to play actual sports when you are have muscles.

2.	Cardio. Heart health is vital to a pro basketball player. An athlete spends a lot of time running up and down the court, so their heart and lungs must be in great shape. Try running on a treadmill or swimming to get a good cardio workout.

3.	Yoga. It might be surprising, but many professional athletes practice yoga. Yoga is great for increasing flexibility, which is something athletes need. Yoga also helps with stress relief. When an athlete has less stress, he is better able to concentrate on the game.

4.	Stretching. This is especially important after a strength training workout. Stretching keeps muscles limber and reduces soreness. Nobody wants a stiff basketball player out on the court.

Most importantly, if you want to train like an athlete, you’ve got to keep everything in moderation. Take a break after a hard workout and don’t berate yourself if you run into an obstacle. Just keep going and you’ll continue to get stronger. Even if you never make it to the basketball court, you’ll feel better in your daily life if you stay in shape and workout like an athlete.

One thing is for certain: professional athletes are strong and in shape. They have to be, right? In order to play well, win games, and run up and down courts and fields, an athlete definitely has to be in shape.

Do you want to train like a professional athlete? Check out a sample strength training workout for athletes. You may never set foot on the football field of the basketball court, but you can at least look like an athlete if you follow a plan like this one.

Try squats. Squats are great for building leg muscles, especially in the calf and hamstring. When your legs are strong, you can run faster and longer. Remember, when you squat do not let your knee go over your toes. If you extend too far, you risk damage to your knees.

Free weights. Another way to build strength is with free weights. You could bench press, use some hand weights, or even use resistance bands. The key with weights is to take it slow and keep it steady. If you try to go too fast when you are lifting weights, you will start to use momentum instead of your muscles.

Do not forget the cardio. This might seem to be in the wrong category, but cardio exercises are actually important to strength training routines. Cardio keeps your heart strong, which is important for endurance. A day of cardio also gives your muscles a break from the weights, which gives your muscles time to recover and build after a hard workout.

It is important to always stretch after a workout. Stretching keeps your muscles limber and will help prevent soreness and stiffness. After your cool down, take 5-10 minutes for stretching. Breathe in deep and find your calm place. Your muscles will thank you for these few minutes of stretching.

Do you love baseball? If you look forward to the first signs of spring because that means baseball season starts, if your favorite sound in the world is the cracking of the bat, and if you dream of stirrup pants and mitts, then you probably are in love with baseball. Baseball is the great American past time. For years, athletes have wowed us on and off the field. So, with so many baseball greats, who is your all-time favorite baseball player? Let’s take a look at some of the greatest baseball players in history.

1.	Babe Ruth. What would a discussion about the greatest baseball players be without mentioning Babe Ruth. He’s the heart and soul of baseball. Babe Ruth has a way, even years after his death, of making baseball magical.

2.	Nolan Ryan. Here’s one of the greatest pitchers ever. Nolan Ryan was just 19-years-old when he broke onto the baseball scene. From that point until the day he retired, Nolan Ryan showed us what baseball was all about.

3.	Pete Rose. It seems that Pete Rose’s legacy is more tainted than honored, but Pete Rose is definitely one of the greatest ball players. Sure, he had a run in with that gambling problem, but even the dark days don’t dampen his incredible baseball skills.

4.	Derek Jeter. Love him or hate him, Jeter is a great ball player. He’s led the Yankees to a number of World Championships. Although Jeter is sometimes known more for his time in the tabloids, he’s definitely one of the power houses in baseball today.

5.	Lou Gehrig. Let’s not forget Lou Gehrig in this list. There’s no doubt that Lou Gehrig is one of baseball’s greats, but what really stands out for him is his complete dedication to the game. He was 100% loyal and gave his all to the game. He was always at the ballpark working and trying to improve his game.

When it comes to basketball, it seems almost impossible to choose a favorite team. If you’re an East Coaster, then you are probably in love with the Celtics or the Knicks. West Coasters are pretty loyal to the Lakers. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of basketball, there are a few teams throughout history that have touched our hearts with the game. Here we take a look at some of the greatest basketball teams of all time.

1.	OK Celtic fans, you win. The 1964-65 Celtic team tops our list of greatest teams. With all-stars like Bill Russell, Same Jones, and Tom Sanders, the Celtics broke the record for the most wins in a single season. The team won their seventh consecutive championship. That’s pretty impressive!

2.	Let’s keep it on the East Coast and show off the 1969-70 New York Knicks. This team included one of the best passing teams in basketball history. With greats like Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, and Bill Bradley, the Knicks say their first NBA Championship in 1970.

3.	Take it to the opposite coast for the 1896-87 Lakers team. There’s no denying that a team with Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and A.C. Green captured our hearts this year. This was the dream team, if there ever was a dream team.

4.	Don’t forget the 1991-92 Chicago Bulls. It’s hard to forget this team with powerhouses Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. B.J. Armstrong, John Paxson, and Horace Grant also made that team great. In fact, this team held the record for the fifth winningest season in 1991.

There are definitely other great basketball teams, like the 1966 Philadelphia 76ers and the 1988-89 Detroit Pistons, but there’s just something legendary about the above teams that will stay in our hearts forever. When you think of the magic of basketball, what team pops into your mind? Who would be on your greatest teams ever list?

If you love the thrill of the sport and want to be out in the open air during the coldest times of the year, then hockey is definitely your sport. If you’ve ever wanted to join the NHL, you may be wondering what the requirements are. Here’s a look at what you’ll need to do if you want to be a member of the National Hockey League.

1.	First, you need some talent. You can’t just put on a pair of skates and grab a stick and suddenly become a hockey player. You need some serious talent in order to play professionally.

2.	And while we’re on the subject, even the most talented people have to practice – a lot. You need to dedicate hours to the sport in order to be taken seriously.

3.	In North America, you have to be at least 18 in order to be eligible to play hockey professionally. If you’re still in high school, continue to work hard and then get ready for the draft after graduation.

4.	Workout. Hockey is a physically demanding sport. You have to be strong, physically and mentally, in order to handle the rigors of the sport. Add strength training to your daily workout schedule.

5.	Get used to the cold. Hockey is an ice sport, so of course the temperatures are going to be cold. If you are more inclined to spend time on the beach in Maui rather than on the ice skating rink in Canada, then hockey may not be your sport.

6.	Stay safe. Play it safe with a mouth guard and a helmet if you want to be around long enough to play in the big leagues.

Hockey is quickly gaining popularity in the United States. If you’re intrigued with the sport, then start practicing and you could be the next member of the NHL.

The professional athlete mystic is that these guys play hard and then party hard. In reality, this is not the case for most successful professionals who enjoy a long and prosperous career. Makes sense that serious professional athletes have to be healthy to survive an athletic career.

Once he makes the team, a professional athlete is put through a series of tests before he can even begin training. His aerobic capacity is tested. If you’ve ever felt like your heart was going to explode after jogging up a hill, you’re no pro. A player without top form heart and lung conditioning will never make it to game day. Other good health indicators are tested through body fat assessments, stress tests, and then those factors that are important in the game of choice. Every football player at every level remembers the dreaded forty yard dash.

Naturally, strength is key to being a healthy professional athlete. The trainers and coaches want to see how many times an athlete can bench press a determined amount of weight. Along with the other tests, the results give the coaches an idea about the athlete’s overall well being. An athlete who is an injury risk is money down the drain. A star is a star when he’s playing the game.

Proper nutrition and hydration will play a big factor in the athlete’s stamina. Just like anybody else, serious professional athletes eat plenty of lean protein and healthy carbohydrates to sustain strength and energy. The old play and then party myth is really a play and then party and then be a failure truth! Those great players who perform game after game and year after year get plenty of rest, good nutrition and proper exercise conditioning. A guy who starts to sputter out at the end of the year may not have such a healthy lifestyle.

Real pros live and play healthily.

The NFL Draft is a little bit like a game of school yard kickball. The loser gets to be the first team to pick a player. Naturally, they’re going to pick the best player. By the time the best team gets to pick, they’re choices are not so good. In essence, the NFL draft teams up the best with the worst. Seems like a fair plan. After all, everybody’s getting a good paycheck.

There is definitely more to it than that. There is the supplemental draft where another round of players get a chance at the big league. And there are trades. Just because a team drafted a guy doesn’t mean they want to play him. Therefore NFL teams might draft the best to use him as leverage in a trade for a player that would suit their team and their winning aspirations better.

Depending on the number of players a team can pick, it will be allowed a corresponding amount of rookie salary money. That doesn’t mean all rookies get paid the same. It just means there’s a budget to spread around based on who is likely to be an asset in the next season. A walk-on is only getting a base salary, but draft pick number one is getting millions.

The way the NFL draft operates doesn’t mean a best player won’t become a worst player. College stars don’t always perform as expected when they get to the NFL. One of the biggest and most controversial college stars to play the game was Brain Bosworth. Does anyone remember him? All of his grandstanding and showmanship couldn’t make him a football legend. He was a total flop in the NFL. He could run his mouth, but couldn’t run down Bo Jackson. Two years into a ten year contract, he had to retire due to bad shoulders. Sounds like the Seahawks and Bosworth ended up losing on that deal.

If you are interested in betting, and find it to be a fun past time, you may have found that betting online is a great way to go. You no longer have to make expensive trips to places like Las Vegas to get your fix. All you have to do is head to the Internet. Because of this, though, many people are becoming concerned about security. In fact, this is a topic that many people are thinking about long before they place any money on a bet.

For example, if you are heading to sports betting sites, you may be concerned about a few things. First, you might wonder if anyone has access to get to your credit card number through these sites. You may also wonder about whether or not your other personal information will get out. Some people are concerned about the security of their own computer once they have gone to one of these sites. You may have the concern that you may get a virus after going to gamble online. Luckily, in most cases, these are not concerns that you have to legitimately worry about.

In fact, many of these gambling sites are very, very strict about their security. They know that people are concerned about this, and therefore are locked down very well. They have security measures in place so that your personal information is not sold or leaked. They also do everything that they can to keep viruses from the site. Of course, with viruses, you may want to make sure that you have security on your own computer to combat this, as any website can have a virus on it. In general, though, these websites are very particular about keeping your information safe and private. They do not want to lose your business, so they will not give out your information.

There is an angry myth that professional athletes are overpaid. That’s a generalization if you apply that idea to every professional athlete. They don’t always make millions. In fact, the average salary of a professional athlete is around $30,000 per year.

The big bucks come in when there’s a big draw for the sport, the team or the athlete. Along with a salary from the team, there are endorsements, too. In that case, athletes get paid like celebrity actors and musicians. Hopefully everyone will strive to make a career in something they love. The difference between a hobbyist and a pro is that the professional athlete will work much harder than a weekend warrior. If he doesn’t produce, he won’t have that big salary and fame for long.

When you take the MLB, NBA, and NFL out of the mix, there really aren’t that many million dollar players. Soccer has David Beckham, but his fifty million a year contract in the U.S. proved to be a bad buy. Hockey has had it’s big ticket players, too, but not all professional sports teams are major league.

There are minor league teams that require professional athletes in many cities across the country and world. Since the draw is not as big, the pay isn’t either. For instance, the average salary of a Minor League Baseball player is about $1,000 a month with a $20 a day meal allowance if the game is on the road. Many of these professional athletes are forced to hold extra jobs to make ends meet.

Soccer is a sport with relative salaries based on where it’s being played. In the U.S., a Major League Soccer player can make as little as $20,000 or as much as 6.5 million. However, in Europe, soccer players average around $128,000 per week. It’s best to say that professional athletes have no pay guarantees, so they better manage the money right while they’re making it.

We all have dreams and passions and desires, and at some point in our youth we start to see some of these dreams as career goals. A professional athlete as a career goal may seem far fetched, but if you possess the talent and skill, then it shouldn’t be considered any less attainable than becoming an actor, musician or college professor, for that matter.

Lance Armstrong is a man who is as famous for polarizing sports fans as he is for winning seven consecutive Tour de France races. There’s plenty of love and hate for Lance Armstrong to go around for everyone. So what is it about this guy? Is he really more arrogant than Charles Barkley? Is his womanizing even in the same ballpark as Wilt Chamberlain’s? Maybe we just can’t believe anyone could come that close to death and still emerge as one of the greatest athletes to ever live.

Looking at the good, one can’t ignore the Livestrong Foundation. How many super famous pro athletes dedicate that much time, money and press to a cause that resonates so deeply with every family? In this case, his dogged perseverance and strong personality have helped a lot of people and inspired even more. As for athletics, he really is a contender. He doesn’t just stick to the pavement. He runs, he mountain bikes, he started as a triathlete. Lance Armstrong is a poster boy for athletic success.

Looking at the bad, he’s rude. Armstrong divorced his wife and took up with Sheryl Crow and then dumped her just before the wedding and took up with another woman and on and on and on. Maybe the comeback kid has a psychological need to comeback from his particular cancer in a prolific manner that will woo the ladies and produce a few extra kids. He seems to lack compassion at times. He can be dogmatic. Basically, not the friendliest guy in the world. Unfortunately, a man in need of remedial social graces loses his athletic mystic a little faster than the nice guy.

That being said, people just won’t give up. Lance Armstrong had to cheat. Somehow, he’s punked the system, and no one can find evidence of the performance enhancing drugs everybody just knows he took. Is it possible that the guy is just a great athlete?

By the time an athlete has made it to the pros, many of the habits and addictions that will eventually cut their careers short have already been a part of their lives before they ever signed a contract. A year doesn’t go by that the press isn’t having a field day because of professional athletes and alcohol or drug abuse.

Typically, the problem starts in high school or college, and because it hasn’t been successfully managed at that level, it certainly won’t just go away overnight in the professional arena. Sports Illustrated published an opinion piece on the irresponsibility of Major League sports franchises that coddle their players instead of giving them a big kick in the pants and demanding they grow up.

Turning the other cheek doesn’t only cut a career short, it destroys a life. The fact that the problem isn’t systemically addressed leads one to believe that a professional athlete is nothing more than a gladiator to be disposed of when he falls. That’s a lot of money down the drain.

The lifelong trials and tribulations of a professional athlete with an alcohol problem are often coupled with minimal life skills. If substance abuse cuts the career short, then what? What’s the point of getting out of your bad youthful situation if it’s just where you’re going to end up again?

On a societal note, professional athletes are often the most visible role model a young person has. To fall from grace because of embarrassing behavior and waning performance due to alcohol or drugs is no way to inspire a child. Maybe it doesn’t matter since we live in a time where the attention span is short and the worst of behaviors is regularly glorified. That’s all well and good until the spotlight goes out and a human being, who happens to be a professional athlete, is left to face his demons alone.

It is frightening how easy the access to performance enhancing drugs is for athletes. Most people think of anabolic steroids when they think of performance enhancing drugs, but many athletes use everyday products to enhance performance. And some performance enhancing products are sold as if they are health food items.

When used as prescribed, the everyday health products that are used by athletes aren’t bad. Stimulants fall into this category. Coffee in small amounts is enjoyed worldwide. Antihistamines that are used for their intended purpose and in their intended dose are very helpful. Diet pills are a waste of money, no matter how their used. Yet any of these products can be very dangerous if taken in large amounts to improve athletic performance. When used in unintended doses in repetition, the cycle starts. Weight loss, heart palpitations, convulsions, brain hemorrhages and heart attacks can occur. Some athletes may even resort to cocaine.

A commonly seen product in the health food section of grocery stores are supplemental shakes and food bars that contain creatine. This is a performance enhancing substance that naturally occurs in the body and helps build muscle through protein rich foods. Science has formulated ways to add more of the compound through nutrition. After awhile, creatine build up will become water build up in the muscles, and this causes dehydration and damage to vital organs. It’s a case of messing with nature only to have it bite back.

Certainly steroids are a concern. Not only do professional athletes use them to enhance performance, but more and more youth athletes feel compelled to try them. There just seems to be something about the psychology of success that makes people want to take a substance they know can hurt them. Even though their known to cause unwanted side effects and health problems, they haven’t gone away.

There needs to be a shift in athletic culture towards health instead of performance.

Sports are enjoyed by everyone in every socioeconomic class. Yet only the more affluent can afford to see a game live. Professional sporting event tickets are too expensive. The cheap seats aren’t cheap, and they may not be seats at all. Either the games become inaccessible, or those who don’t have the money are spending the rent to get there.

To be fair, not all pro sporting events are too expensive. It’s mostly the major leagues that have that hefty asking price. Basketball games list back row seats in the mezzanine for almost $100. Even if the working class family did manage to come up with the cash for the tickets, there are the hidden charges that come along with it. Parking can be $25. Food and drinks can set a family back as much as buying one more ticket. When did professional sports become so family unfriendly?

There is plenty of poor sportsmanship during the game to answer to the family friendly argument, but sports stars are all over the commercials, and print ads. Children really believe in them and really want to experience the game. It seems that something as universal as sports should also have universally accessible ticket prices.

To pick on professional sporting events isn’t fair. Music concerts have followed suit. Twenty five years ago, $20 would get you into a major star’s concert. That same cash could get you to a ball game in some places. Then the perceived value changed and an HDTV was as close to live as most Americans would ever get.

The competition’s gone well beyond the playing field as teams race to build the biggest and best arena or stadium. The fan gets to pay for that. If you’re lucky enough to live in a city that has good public transportation, some of the extra costs of attending a game can be parlayed. Regardless, the price of professional sporting events is too high.
